Review

The mysterious and dark world Kellison created in Shadow Bound takes a much deeper plunge in Shadow Fall with layers of new supernatural beings and a new love story. I will admit, I missed Adam and Talia but found myself loving Custo and Annabella's story!!

Custo has always been Adam’s partner and remains his longtime friend even after meeting a case of death….After being ushered into heaven and given a chance at peace, the chance to do right and the chance to become an angel, Custo just cannot accept that this is his life. After time in this new realm Custo begins to go a bit crazy and jumps at the opportunity to trade places with Shadowman. The two swap lives and off Custo is into Shadow Land. Eager to find his way back to earth, back to his friends he stumbles upon Annabella.

Annabella is a ballet dancer, but flexing her leg in ungodly ways is not the only gift she possesses. When she concentrates on her dance, she can breach the boundary between the mortal world and the Shadowlands…(of course…in enters Custo) and unfortunately she has attracted a shadow hunter wolf, who wants more than a dance. When Custo and the wolf both gain access into the mortal world each one has a mission…Annabella….but Custo has no desire to share his new found love and begins the dauntless task of sending the wolf hunter back into Shadowland.

I really enjoyed this second installment of Shadowland and its characters. Despite the far-fetched theology with Angels and Heaven it came off as a fast-paced, twisty dark story. I liked Custo actually more than Adam and found Annabella and his relationship a bit more spicy but not forced or rushed. I think Kellison really takes time developing rounded and in-depth characters that show believability and strength. As well as hot romance, Ms. Kellison can deliver scary….I thought the wolf and darkness of Shadowland was downright frightening in this book-think evil scary wolf, not your friendly everyday wolf. Don’t think this one is all romance because we have a truly terrifying ride of mystery, action and the supernatural.
